SDG Action Manager: is the impact of your business real?

You still don’t know the brand-new influencer that rules the roost? SDG Action Manager is not a person, but it has become a trend and you cannot be left out of this matter!

The Global Compact and BLab launched a new tool with the objective of measuring the influence of companies in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This tool is the SDG Action Manager platform, the term may be new, but it is better to get used to it because it is here to stay and transform the way of measuring the positive impact of the private sector on society.

In a nutshell, we can say that this is a free online social innovation capable of collaborating with the business processes of aligning its strategies and operations with the goals of the 2030 Agenda.

Did we go too fast? So take it easy, first you need to know what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are. For that, we already have content for you on that matter that you can read by clicking here.

Now that you know about it, we can continue! The SDG Action Manager is an extremely useful tool that allows socially responsible companies to indicate risks and business opportunities, in addition to proposing new goals that guide the development of action plans related to the SDGs.

According to the Global Compact, the SDG Action Manager “brings together the B Lab’s Impact Assessment, the United Nations’ Ten Principles of the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to encourage companies to act through dynamic self-assessment , benchmarking and improvements. This tool was developed with the active support of different stakeholders, including specialists in business sustainability, civil society, the United Nations and the academic world, and was inspired by the community of Companies B and the companies that participate in the United Nations Global Compact ”.

We know that the business sector has evolved a lot in recent years in relation to the themes of the 2030 Agenda, but we also know that there is much to be done and improved, especially in relation to the methodology for assessing the impact and measuring the achievement of the goals set in the SDGs! In this sense, the SDG Action Manager allows managers in the areas of corporate social responsibility to rethink their actions so that their programs are effectively connected with the SDGs and are measured, allowing the Global Compact to assess the achievement of the goals of each of the 17 global objectives defined by the UN 2030 Agenda.

The question could still arise: “Why is Aventura de Construir interested in promoting a tool like SDG Action Manager?” Our Association is one of the 110 Brazilian NGOs participating in the Global Compact (to see which other organizations are available, access the full list here) and sees the urgency of working synergistically in the social impact ecosystem.
