Have you noticed that many people are talking about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? But, after all, what are these goals and where did they come from?
We don’t want to mess your head up too much, but before explaining the SDGs, we need to tell you about the MDGs! Calm down, it’s simple !!! The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were established by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2000, with a target to be achieved by 2015. At the time, the following themes were:
These purposes emerge from studies carried out by the UN for decades and which have already been presented in several conferences, such as: Stockholm (1972), Rio de Janeiro (1992), Johannesburg (2002) and Rio + 20 (2012). It is, therefore, an extremely important global agenda for countries, especially developing countries, to improve people’s quality of life.
The experience of these 15 years of MDGs also revealed a series of new social issues that needed more attention. Therefore, in 2015, the PNUD developed new purposes and targets, the so-called SDG, with a target by 2030 and organized in the following way:
But… here’s the big question: How to carry out these SDGs by 2030?
We are already moving towards 2020 and we have another 10 years to go, but time flies and that is why we need to unite! In order to achieve the goals of each purpose of this global agenda by 2030, Rede Brasil do Global Pacto created thecampaign O Futuro que a Gente Quer (The Future We Want ) along with companies from the private sector that work in favor of the SDGs. We, from Aventura de Construir, are also taking part in this journey collaborating so that the goals are achieved through our activities that work with SDGs 1, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 17.
Are you curious? Come see the video with the full story of these people here.
In the coming months, Aventura de Construir will also tell you a little more about each of the purposes we work on and the relationship of each one with our activities. Follow our networks and stay on top of this global agenda !!!
